The first person in the world to transplant a pig’s heart into the body of a patient in the United States. That person has died. According to a report in Euronews, David Bennett, 58, died on Tuesday (March 6) at the University of Maryland Medical Center. However, the doctors did not give the exact cause of his death. The doctors only said that David Bennett’s condition had started deteriorating several days ago.

For the first time in history, doctors in Maryland in the United States have transplanted a pig’s heart into a human body. A 56-year-old Maryland man recently had a pig heart transplant. The man was in good health after the surgery. However, some genetic changes were made in the pig before the surgery.

A statement from the University of Maryland Medical School in Baltimore, US, said the pig’s heart, which was transplanted into its body, had long been suffering from cardiac complications. He was lying in bed for the last three years. His physical condition was so fragile that he could not bear the shock of a human heart transplant. Hence this decision was taken.

At the end of the operation, the man said that agreeing to the operation was like throwing stones at him in the dark. He realized that it was better to make this decision than to lie in bed and wait for death.
