On the same day on Friday (March 11), apart from Hollywood, three films from Bangladesh will be released in blockbuster films. Zias Uddin Selim’s ‘Gunin’ and Rubaiyat Hussain’s ‘Shimu’ will release on March 11.
The blockbuster cinema at Jamuna Future Park will see three Bengali films on a single day alongside Hollywood’s acclaimed “The Batman”.
Ziyas Uddin Selim has made ‘Gunin’ based on the short story by Hasan Azizul Haque. Starring Azad Abul Kalam, Parimani, Shariful Raj, Iresh Jeker and others. The OTT platform is built as the core of the wheel. Will be releasing in 20 theatres.
Rubaiyat Hussain’s ‘Shimu’ starring Rikita Nandini Shimmu, Shahana Goswami, Dipanbita Martin, Shatabdi Vadud and others. The film tells the story of the struggle and success of women garment workers in the light of the role of the garment industry in empowering women and achieving self-reliance in Bangladesh. The first film was screened in Toronto in 2019 under the title ‘Made in Bangladesh’. The film was later screened commercially abroad, including at the London Film Festival and the Locarno Film Festival. Produced by Khana Talkies.
