With the COVID situation improving in the state, the Odisha government has decided to reopen schools, colleges and other educational institutions starting next week. Secretary-General Suresh Mohapatra has announced that physical classes will resume in schools for students in grades 8 and up from February 7th.
The state government has issued guidelines on the reopening of schools. Students studying in grade 7 through kindergarten will be allowed to attend physical classes starting February 14th. Those attending schools in physical mode will be required to strictly follow covid standards.

“The decision to reopen schools, colleges and other educational institutions was taken in the best interest of students. For the current academic year, students can choose whether to attend classes online or offline or in hybrid mode, class promotion of students from KG to Class 9 Class X and XII examinations will be conducted in accordance with the guidelines issued by their respective boards and councils, examinations in colleges, including professional and technical institutions, may be conducted in accordance with the guidelines issued before the closure of the institutions. said Suresh Mohapatra, Secretary-General.
Colleges and technical institutes will reopen on February 7. Short-term training centers and skills development will also reopen on this day and so will hostels associated with the educational institutions and training centers. Everyone welcomes the decision to reopen the school.
Pritish Acharya, an educator, said, “Given the covid situation, the state government has made a good decision for the reopening of the school. This is the time for the final exam and the start of a new session. It will be helpful for students.”
“We will follow the guidelines of state government strictly in school. In almost two years, students will attend physical classes. Student safety is our top priority,” said Sai International School Principal Nilakantha Panigrahi.
A student of Bhargava Nayak said, “We are excited about the reopening of a school. We can clear our doubts and prepare for the final exam as well as the next session.”
The schools and colleges have also been directed to conduct bridge and short-term courses to compensate for the loss of study of students over the past two years. The Orissa High Court has ordered the state government to decide on the reopening of schools within two months on Wednesday.
