As the number of Covid-19 cases across the country began to decline, several states decided to reopen schools. While West Bengal, Punjab, Maharashtra have reopened schools in the past week, some states will open schools from tomorrow, February 7th. Here is a list of states reopening schools:
Uttar Pradesh
The UP government has allowed the reopening of schools and colleges since February 7 due to a decrease in Covid-19 cases in the state. Schools will reopen for grades 9 through 12. The remaining classes have not reopened yet. Online classes will continue at the same time. “On January 17, active cases in the state were 1,01,600 and now it has come to 41,000 and within a week it can become zero,” the CM said at an administrative meeting.

Gujarat
Like the UP government, the Gujarat government has allowed the reopening of schools for grades 1 to 9 from tomorrow. According to a circular issued by the education department, it said government, private and aid schools can resume physical classes on Monday. Meanwhile, online teaching will continue and students can choose at their convenience. Schools in the state have been closed since December 2021 due to an increase in Covid-19 cases in the state.
Bihar
Schools in Bihar are opening with a 50-percent capacity for students in grades 8 and students in grades 9 through 12 are eligible to attend schools at full capacity. In addition to schools, colleges and training institutes will also reopen with 100 percent capacity. Schools have been closed in Bihar since January 6 due to the increase in Covid-19 cases. Schools for those under grade 8 will remain closed and online classes will continue for all students.
Delhi
The Delhi government has also decided to reopen schools for grades 9 to 12 starting tomorrow. The decision came after a meeting with the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA). Schools will reopen in a phased manner following strict precautions on Covid-19 and only vaccinated employees and teachers will be allowed to attend offline classes. DDMA has also allowed offices to operate with 100 percent capacity in the capital. Meanwhile, a nursery up to grade 8 will reopen from February 14 onwards.
“Based on the advice of the experts, in light of the steadily declining positivity and number of cases, higher education institutions and training institutes open up subject to SoPs and strict adherence to CAB,” DDMA said. It also said that the vaccination of children between 15-18 age group should be improved.

Kerala
Kerala schools and colleges reopen from February 7. According to the guidelines published by the office of Prime Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, offline classes have been allowed to resume in a phased manner in all educational institutions. Schools will reopen tomorrow for grades 10 through 12. For grades 1 through 9, schools will reopen from February 14th.
Odisha
Schools in Odisha reopen for students in grades 8 and up from February 7th. Students studying in grades 7 through kindergarten will be allowed to attend physical classes from February 14 onwards. Those attending schools in physical mode will be required to strictly follow Covid-19 guidelines and standards. Colleges and technical institutes will also reopen from February 7th.
